STRETCH GOAL: 20 More Lefties on 6-10 cards (in monochrome)
about 7 years ago – Fri, Apr 21, 2017 at 02:10:21 PM

Happy Friday!

We've been receiving lots of great feedback on this and are excited to announce a stretch goal:

  • adding an additional 20 lefties onto the 6-10 number cards (5 for each suit)
  • illustrations will be hand-draw in monochrome (vs the full color of the face cards)
  • Michael and I have a running list of potential lefties and he's started sketching out some prototypes

We are super pumped to celebrate more sinister sisters and brothers with this expansion.  Please help us get there!  share link: http://bit.ly/sinister-lefthanded-deck

Holy Moly! What a start!

We've had a truly incredible beginning and I'm so very grateful to all of you for jumping in and helping us get this project done. I'm really happy with how everything has come along so far with this. The art has been such a pleasure to create and I've been able to meet some new, awesome people and we still have 19 days remaining! I'm beyond thrilled that the project is funded and these cards are happening. I've got a little more work to do on the original card designs, which will be done next week. Now I'm creating additional art for the next phase. We will be adding stretch goals over the next few days (I don't want to say what they are just yet, until we decide which direction to go), but there are some very cool, exciting incentives that we're going to offer to push this thing to the next level.

In the meantime, here are a few little sketches of pieces in progress. My process begins with pulling up a bunch of images of the person/subject and creating a type of "inspiration board" to get the feeling for that character. Then I sketch out a couple of different versions, decide which I like best and transfer that to my card template that's been drawn out on 140lb Hot Press watercolor paper (my favorite). Then I paint, scan that in and clean up anything that needs a little extra attention in Photoshop and get it print ready. I'll post another next week with a bunch of finished pieces. At this point, it looks like we will do art for every card (not just face cards) included with the next stretch goal.

Thank you all again and please continue to share our campaign and keep an eye out for the new incentives.
